NOT EVERYTHING HUMAN IS BEAUTIFUL. THAT DOESN’T MAKE IT LESS WORTH EXPLORING.

Two whole anatomical hearts resting side by side, symbolizing unconditional love, emotional wholeness, and mutual acceptance.

In So Loving You

I long for moments when time stops, and the essence of us lingers in the air, suspended in a moment in time with no demons from the past tearing us apart and no ghosts of a future that demands expectations.

I don’t need you to complete me, and I see you as you are, whole, beautiful, and in your raw authenticity. I don’t ask you to change into the being I envision I can love, but see you in your flaws, in the way you love life, in the way you furrow your brows when the world seems cold and unforgiving. I seek to understand you for who you are, not for what I would like you to be.

Tell me your story, tell me why you cry, show me why you laugh, and share your world of emotions, distractions, and adventures. I know sometimes your world will be dark. I can sit in that darkness with you without losing myself, without judgment or expectation. You are at the helm of your own journey. I won’t take your experiences as my own, or try to steer it in my way to pacify my own needs and shortcomings.

I am present to your vulnerability and listen without collecting information to use to coerce or beguile. I see you as a whole being that doesn’t need me to complete them. So when I say I love you, I love you, with no strings attached, with no script to fulfill, or expectation that you will love me in return.

In so loving you without obsession or a need to fill my soul’s empty spaces of shattered dreams and pain, I don’t make you responsible for me or the hollow void I still need to figure out on my own.

I am responsible for me.

I am here as someone who walks with you, beside you, not because you need me, but because you know I won’t sacrifice myself for you and won’t ask the same of you.

Two souls rising above the chains of enslavement that kept us in cycles chasing validation, conditional love, and purpose through the eyes of another, when all along, we had to give it to ourselves before we even recognized it in another person.
