NOT EVERYTHING HUMAN IS BEAUTIFUL. THAT DOESN’T MAKE IT LESS WORTH EXPLORING.
Beyond First Impressions
I’ve never believed that we are simply who we show ourselves to be in front of others. There are parts of us we share freely, parts we carefully protect, and others we have yet to discover.
I’ve lived through many versions of myself, some I look back with affection, while others I can only understand with time. I’ve learned that we can be strong and still be afraid, kind and still be selfish, and that even the most beautiful intentions can carry shadows.
Perhaps that is what fascinates me most about life. We spend so much of our lives trying to understand others, while there are still parts of ourselves we don’t know.
I don’t pretend to have all the answers. I simply find that digging deeper into who we are and seeking understand ourselves can help us make sense of life. And it certaintly keeps things interesting.
I find myself reflecting on how we focus so much on advancement as a society, yet it seems like we get caught up in the next software update and forget we’re the ones that may need one ourselves.
We spend most of our lives chasing things we think will make us happy. We work, achieve, buy things, and then move on to whatever comes next. But at times, even with all that life has to offer, we find ourselves wondering if there’s something more.
For me, it’s about touching the heart of another person. To reach out to others and inspire, share thoughts that make one question the mundane, or make life a little better for someone I may never meet.
If I can leave even one small corner of this world better than I found it, then I will have left behind something far more meaningful than a name on a tombstone.
The Early Years
It was not all rainbows & Unicorns
My childhood was a mixture of creative exploration and difficult experiences. Music, opera, and performance were part of those years, but so were moments that introduced me to life’s more uncomfortable realities. Long before I understood how they affected me, those experiences were shaping the way I saw myself and the world around me.
The Many Lives I’ve Lived
The Road with Many Chapters
Life has taken me in directions I never expected. From creative interests and different career paths to motherhood and the many roles I’ve taken on, I’ve experienced different sides of life. Some paths I chose on purpose; others unfolded along the way. Each has become part of a story that goes far beyond any single title or profession.
Finding My Voice
The Turning Point
For much of my life, writing belonged to the private space in my world. Over time, I felt a desire to share my words and explore the experiences we often keep hidden inside of us. What began as a personal form of expression and escape slowly became a way to connect not just with myself, but others as well.
The Birth of Peony
Immersed in the Art of Imagination
In March 2025, I founded Peony Magazine to create a space for stories that explore the many sides of what we go through in this journey of life. I wanted a place where others can share their perspectives, personal experiences, and conversations that may, at times, be uncomfortable yet moving to the soul.
The Unwritten Chapters
The Story Continues
Today, I’m continuing to write my books while looking forward to connecting and working with other creatives who share a desire to make a meaningful impact. Through writing, conversation, speaking, and shared creative work, I hope to inspire change and leave something lasting in this world.
If but one person’s life is changed for the better, my work was worth it.
